THINGS TO DO: Major Attractions:
The Stone Town Tour:
(The House of Wonder)

Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, grew out of Zanzibar’s historical trades. A tour of the city takes you around the historical, cultural, and architecturally important areas of the city. Most of historical buildings are within the heart of Stone town. You can visit the Old Fort, Zanzibar museum, the former slave market, House of wonders, and the harbour. Take a memorable leisurely walk through the narrow and winding streets of Stone Town where one can find exotic small bazaars and spice and antique shops.
The Spice Plantations:

The spice tour takes you on a countryside visit where one can see plantations such as root crops, spices, perfumes, medicinal plants, and tropical fruits. The variety of plants and spices are used in food flavouring and preparation all over the island as well as for cosmetics, dyes, and medicines. The tour could also include a visit to some of the ruins like Maruhubi palace ruins.
Jozani Forest Reserve:
The forest is located about 35km south east of Unguja, on the road to Paje. It is the largest area of mature forest left on the island. It is also host to the red colobus monkey an endangered species in the world and several species of butterflies, about 40 species of birds and several other animals.
Dhow Cruise and Small Island Adventure:
This is a sailing trip to nearby islands. Dhow cruising is becoming very popular and the packages usually include snacks and drinks. The dhows used usually have engines in case the wind drops.
Scuba Diving:

There are plenty of diving sites on both Unguja and Pemba. There are also plenty of diving companies that can take a range of divers, some as many as 30 divers. Depth of the water varies according to the competence of the diver. There are plenty of sea creatures to be seen including octopuses, eel, and moray. The diving companies use international equipment and they are all licensed by commission for tourism. Please check before using one.
Prison Island Tour:
Prison Island or Changuu Island is one of small islands of Zanzibar. It was formerly owned by an Arab ruler who used the island as a detention centre for stubborn prisoners. It has beautiful beaches where one can swim and snorkel. It is also home to giant tortoises and coral reefs. It is about 30 minutes by engine boat from Unguja.
A Tour of the North and East coasts:

These can be taken as separate tours or combined. Combined tour shall take the whole day and includes the spice tour, a visits to Nungwi village, the turtle aquarium, ship building yards and a lot of relaxation on beautiful beaches on the east coast. This tour can also be combined with visits to historical ruins, the Jozani forest, and the dolphin adventure trip.
Kizimkazi Tour:
Kizimkazi fishing village south of Ungujja is home to several schools of dolphins, tourists are taken on a boat trip to view the dolphins. Kizimkazi is also the site of a 12th century mosque and the earliest evidence of Islam in East Africa. 17th century ruins are also be found in the area.
