Shinyanga Region is one of the regions of Tanzania. It is bordered to the north by Mwanza, Mara, and Kagera Regions, and to the south by the Tabora Region.To the west by Kigoma Region, Singida Region to the southeast, Arusha and Manyara Regions to the east.
Diamonds:

Tanzania has been a significant diamond producer for several decades, with the bulk of production coming from the Williamson Diamonds Mine at Mwadui where commercial production began in 1925. Over 300 kimberlites are known in Tanzania of which, 20% are diamondiferous.

Shinyanga has eight districts which are Shinga Urban, Shinyanga Rural, Kahama, Bukombe, Kishapu, Meatu, Bariadi, and Maswa.

TOURIST ATTRACTION:
Biharamulo Game Reserve:
Biharamulo Game reserve is part of the North Western Tanzania's Big Game Hunting Reserves, which consists of Biharamulo, Burigi, Rumanyika Orugundu, and Ibanda Game Reserves in Kagera Region. The reserve is located adjacent to the southwest shore of Lake Victoria, covering an area of 1300 square kilometers.
Common reedbuck and steinbuck can be found in the reserve. Also there are herds of hippopotamus, elephants, zebra, sable, roan antelope, sitatunga (found in swampy areas), topi, and red colobus monkeys. It is also rich in bird life, which includes among others martial eagle, sacred ibis, saddle and billed stork. Best time to visit is from June to September, when it is dry.
Other Attractions:
Shinyanga is located closer to lake Victoria, and it shares borders with Serengeti National Park. Visitors to the region can always take this advantageous location to explore the other tourist attractions.
