TOURIST ATTRACTIONS:

Historical Mikindani:

mikindani

Mikindani was an important Swahili trading centre as far back as the 15th century and David Livingstone quoted it in his diaries as being "the finest port on the coast". Since then the town’s fortunes has changed. The village still reflects its multicultural history and an Arabic, African and European presence on this East African coastal village is evident.

Lukwika Lumesule / Msanjesi Game Reserves:
Due to its remoteness, this reserve is one of the least visited wilderness areas in Tanzania. It is home to elephants, lion, leopard, hippo, crocodile, antelope as well as many other species. Msanjesi Game Reserve is also part of the Elephant corridor. It has very good hunting in the early months of July and August in trophy Elephant, Leopard, Sable, and Kudu.

mtwaramarinepMsimbati bay/ Mnazi Bay Marine Reserve:
Msimbati was once known as the place to pick up dhow transport to Mozambique. Now tourists are more interested with miles of white sand. The presence of coral reefs close to the shore provides excellent grounds for snorkeling in the newly gazetted Mnazi Bay Marine Reserve.

Ruvuma River:
The Ruvuma River is a home to Hippos and Crocs, and Lake Chidya, is excellent for bird life. The River has its origins to the east of Lake Nyasa. Its flow reflects the seasons, during the wet and spate a mighty river two kilometres across. In the dry, a canoe can cross in minutes.
