Mtwara is a sprawling City in southern-end of Tanzania. Ruvuma River separates Mtwara From Mozambique. Mtwara was part of Lindi Region before its separation in 1971.
The town was firstly developed by the British after the WWII, to act as part of the East African Groundnuts scheme, to combat the shortage of plant oils. An international Air strip, and the country’s first deep water port was built in the Town. Its culture and tradition is the same as Lindi.
Mtwara has five districts which are Mtwara/Mikindani, Mtwara Rural,Tandahimba,Newala, and Masasi.
