Mara is one of the 26 regions of Tanzania. Located in the north of the country. On the south Mara is bordering Mwanza, and Shinyanga. Arusha to the south east, and it shares a border with Kagera through Lake Victoria. To the north east Mara borders The Republic of Kenya.

Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous animal parks, take a huge land of the Mara region.

MARA IS THE HOME TOWN OF NYERERE

Mara is also a Birth place of Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere. He was born on March, 1922 in Butiama village, Musoma Rural. He is the founding president of the country.

’Mwalimu’ Nyerere was also one of the powerful african leaders who played a great role in African political arena.Nyerere was one of major force behind the establishment of Organization of African Unity (OAU) now the African Union (AU).Mara has five regions, which are Tarime, Musoma Urban, Musoma Rural, Bunda, and Serengeti.
